What is an exercise physiologist?
An exercise physiologist is a health professional who has undertaken a 4-year bachelor’s degree, who specialises in providing exercise treatment to people with musculoskeletal, cardiovascular or other chronic type health conditions.
What type of problems can they help with?
At Hyperwell Health & Performance, our exercise physiologists specialise in helping individuals on the performance side, such as athletes and non-athletes, who require objective testing to take their fitness, speed or strength to the next level.
What can you expect when seeing an exercise physiologist?
During your initial consultation, your exercise physiologist will firstly have a chat with you and discuss your particular problem or challenge. Following this, they will set S.M.A.R.T goals that align with what you want to achieve. They will then run you through an assessment to see your baseline measures and then prescribe you an individualised program accordingly. Through-out the sessions, they will monitor your exercise technique and provide cues and tips to improve your performance. Along your journey, your exercise physiologist will re-assess by testing you again and seeing if you have been able to reach your goal. Every measure is calculated so our exercise physiologists can monitor and change anything in the program if necessary.
